I bought 2 of these books as gifts for my nieces (huge GRIMM fans) and sadly BOTH books fell apart. The 1st book did not last but a few minutes after being opened - so we set it aside (delicately) and hoped it was a fluke. But sadly the 2nd book's binding came apart and pages started to fall out just a couple days later (even with careful handling). I STILL am hoping this was just dumb bad luck and that perhaps the manufacture could exchange these "lemons" for 2 other books. My nieces were so excited to read the book (as they are pretty cool that emulates the shows wesen characters) but these 2 I ordered were just built so poorly. Lets hope we can exchange them for some that last long enough to be read.If not for the poor binding, I would have happily given a perfect rating.- still hopeful(Now i just have to figure out how to exchange them)
I bought this book for my son as a Christmas present but (due to reading some reviews that mentioned problems with the binding back in 2017) I decided just to give it to him right away (as this beautiful book arrived very nicely wrapped tightly in plastic) so far the whole family has enjoyed it!I believe this is a great item for collection or gift for fans of the TV series Grimm, I would also say it is immensely enjoyable for anyone who loves a Grimm fan, due to the beautiful array of intriguing trivia about these creatures that has prompted hours of discussion and promoted interest in the original Grimm’ Fairy Tales as well!I was very pleased with this book on arrival. The plastic was wrapped tightly and sealed very nicely along the edge so I could definitely have simply wrapped it up and presented it or even put together with other items in a basket or box, etc...without additional hassle!I removed the plastic outer wrap and gently opened the book checking for any loose pages or other problems before presenting it to my son. After handling this book now for weeks I can only suspect that the binding issues a few others experienced last year are either due to a bad batch or other problem probably already rectified by the manufacturer...I love the look and feel of this book, as if each page is a photograph of a Grimm’s (Nick’s, Aunt Marie’s or another Grimm ancestor’s) work space while dealing with a particular ‘Wessen’ along with pictures, notes/translations, weapons (and even specimens, spills, accidents...) that go along with it! Super fun and the even the smallest details are surprisingly incredibly interesting!The book of lore is written as though you are reading a handwritten collection of notes and journal pages. The entries are translated to English throughout. It is a glossy format and has nice heavy pages. The binding on the copy we received is strong and holding through much reading. We have been watching Grimm (on Amazon Prime) since it arrived and my boy loves to look up the ‘wessen’ in the episodes we watch, passing it around to show us images on the pages or extra information about a specific ‘wessen’! Most of the segments are between 1 & 4 pages long, this is just about right and keeps it interesting without droning on. Several (not all) of the ‘wessen’ in the TV series are covered in this ‘book of lore’. I was pleased to see a nice variety of different ‘wessen’ in the entries!If I had any complaints it would only be that they couldn’t possibly cover all the he ‘wessen’ in the show in this one book!I would say the book is well written and beautifully presented, even the cursive handwriting is legible enough for my 10 year old son to read!Love the price, content, quality...this is an amazing gift, a must have for Grimm fans!
This was a very cool book but the binding on it is horrible. The pages started coming out of the binding the first time it was opened. I'm giving it three stars instead of just one because if you're not worried about it falling apart and just want to read it then it's pretty interesting. But if you plan on buying it as a gift for someone I strongly advise against it because it will fall apart on them immediately and you will feel like a schmuck!
This book is perfect and not at all what I was expecting! It is larger than what I thought and quality is great! The paperback is more durable than a typical paperback book. Im going to give it to my sister on her bday because she is a really big fan of Grimm. Looking forward to her reaction when she opens it!
While the book has great drawings and I love all the lore included. Unfortunately there are several pages that are pictures of book pages with junk on top of it like rolled up balls of paper or pens and pencils instead of just pages in a book. This does not look good at all and was a pretty big disappointment. Really wish there was a nice leather bound true replica of the original movie prop.
The problem is that when I was half way through book the first half of the pages came away from the binder and pages started falling out. CHEAP, CHAEP CHEAP MADE. It is a good read just like what you see in the Grimm TV show.

Then you will enjoy this book. Just imagine that the stories you read as a kid actually described real beings and their interactions with humans. Fun, huh? And more than a bit scary. This book is a companion book of sorts to the television story of a modern descendent of the Brothers Grimm - a police detective in Portland, Oregon. He discovers that certain members of his family, himself included, can actually see these Wesen, or members of the fairy tale creatures community. The book is a replica of one of the books handed down in his family and it contains drawings and information about some of these beings. Some of it is written in German, some in Latin, Spanish and English. All of the texts, as far as I can tell, are translated into English. I find it fun and I like to have it with me when I watch the program, so that I can look up the creatures along with the detective. I enjoy it and hope you will as well.
